You can have a law practice that practically runs itself if you have the right tools and team in place. You wouldn’t think of law as having fashion cycles but practice areas do go out of fashion and new ones come in (hello cannabis law).
It’s time for new styles when it comes to running a law practice, too. The current ‘carrot and stick’ style of management that used fear to motivate is rampant in the legal community. Sadly, many of the lawyers I work with have a story about a boss who was demeaning, cruel, judgmental or worse.
Those experiences with their past employers are what drove these lawyers, in part, to launch their own law practices. They had a vision. They knew they could do a better job leading a practice.
